Robert Chenciner is best known as an art historian and ethnographer for his study of material culture of Daghestan, part of the Russian Caucasus. In May and June 2009 he curated the ‘Carved and Coloured Village Art from Tsarist Lands’ exhibition at Pushkin House.

This is a new and experimental series featuring Russian and non-Russian artists creating music, drama and poetry in situ. Two musical ensembles – Triptik and Barrel – will take part in this first evening. They are joined by pianist Vladimir Miller, well known to audiences at Pushkin House.

A presentation of Yuri Mechitov’s photo album

Supported by the British-Georgian Society. In his recently published book “Sergei Parajanov. Chronicle of the Dialogue”, Yuri Mechitov shares his memories about Sergei Paradjanov. The book presents a kaleidoscope of famous and rarely seen photographs taken throughout the author’s long friendship with Sergei Paradjanov.
