Bard Songs Concert: An Evening Among Friends

Pushkin House and Arbuzz Project invite you to the Bard Songs Concert - 'An Evening Among Friends'.

Performers: Elena Dana (London), Zhenya Sakirski (NYC), Dina [&] Ilya Berdnikov (London)

This event is inspired by the Soviet bard tradition and campfire sing-alongs. Four contemporary performers will present an evening revealing the diversity of this form through well-known songs and hidden gems of love and friendship, and war and peace. The tradition focuses on the meaning of lyrics and expresses the concerns of everyday folk through song. Popularised in the 1960s by singer-songwriter performers such as Vladimir Vysotsky and Bulat Okudzhava, it is an essential part of many Russian cultural identity. A great opportunity to wrap up in this great tradition and banish those January blues.
