The Castle (Zamok, 1994, 120 min)
Film starts at 14:00
Adapted from Kafka's novel - and similarly claustrophic and absurd. A respected Mr Zemlemer is invited to a Castle for work, but when he gets there no-one will acknowledge his presence. Any attempts to assert himself are met with a cold wall of hostility. Thus humiliated, he will stop at nothing to gain entry to the Castle up on the hill.
The film won two Nika awards in 1995.
Aleksey Balabanov (1959 - 2013) is best known for cult gangster film 'Brother', first released in 1997. This afternoon's screening will focus on a trio of his lesser-known films.
Screening is free, but booking is essential. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to reserve your space.
