RUSSIAN FILM WEEK: Evening with Alexey Uchitel

How to work with foreign actors (excerpts from Uchitel's latest film Matilda)
A Russian MP has asked prosecutors to investigate whether a film about Tsar Nicholas II and his lover, a famous ballerina, is an "anti-Russian and anti-religious provocation". The film is in post-production, no one has been able to see it yet, but the controversy is already brewing. Alexey Uchitel will give a talk on his experience of working with international film stars on this production.
Alexey Uchitel is a renowned Russian film director. His 2005 film “Dreaming of Space” won the Golden George Award at the 27th Moscow International Film Festival. In 2006 he was a member of the jury at the 28th Moscow International Film Festival. His film “Break Loose” was selected to be screened in the Contemporary World Cinema section at the 2013 Toronto International Film Festival. His film “The Edge” was selected as the Russian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 83rd Academy Awards.

A glass of wine and snacks (provided by Vatrushka Cafe) are included in the ticket price.

Russian Film Week Festival runs from 30 November - 4 December 2016. The programme consists of daily screenings at the Regents Street Cinema with auxiliary events at other venues, drawing to a close with the Golden Unicorn Awards Charity Gala to raise funds for Gift of Life UK.
