Russian folk heritage made loud, fun… and modern. Parents and children are invited to the first in a series of participative folklore performances for children. Hosted by friendly experts in their field Olesia and Eugenia from the Bylina Folk Group, and with more than an hour of authentic, high-energy games, dancing, plays, stories and songs - young audiences are guaranteed to leave enlightened, and delighted by the fun of time-honoured traditions brought to life.
Folk workshops hosted by the Bylina Group celebrate the diversity of rural traditions – games, songs and dances - from all different parts of Russia.
Whilst the lively, participative and thoroughly interactive ‘workshop’ format bears little or no resemblance to the typical, sedentary classroom environment, the events are meticulously researched, with workshop leaders well-versed in the authentic ethnographic and historic material they teach.
Olesia and Eugenia see it as their mission to actively entertain and engage children and young people with Russian folklore and to encourage future generations to continue and pass on the traditions they inherit.
They participate in numerous shows and festivals across the country, and recently won the Russian Song Competition in London.
The ticket is per child, adults can accompany (or join in!) free of charge. The event at 2pm is aimed at children aged 3-7. The event at 4pm is aimed at children age 8+.
