Every day, we learn the names of yet more people arrested in Russia for opposing the war and the country's leadership in the hope for change.
For many people from Russia, supporting political prisoners has already become a basic civic duty. This public talk is part of a global effort to ensure Russia’s political prisoners are seen, heard and supported. It will introduce letter-writing – a simple and meaningful act of solidarity open to everyone, including Londoners.
Unlike in the Soviet past, anyone can now easily exchange letters with Russia’s political prisoners. During the talk, Petr will cover all aspects of letter-writing and answer all the questions.
After the Q&A, participants will be invited to write postcards to political prisoners in the spirit of the upcoming festive season.

Petr is an anti-war campaigner who organises public events in support of Russia’s political prisoners, including monthly letter-writing workshops in London. He holds an LLM in Human Rights Law from Queen Mary University of London and has ten years’ experience practising and teaching law in Russia.
